Live Longer! Campaign

In addition to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander 'Swap It' advertising, messages about healthy eating and physical activity will be delivered specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through the Local Indigenous Community Campaigns to Promote Better Health initiative, part of the Australian Governments Indigenous Chronic Disease Package.

Branded Get Active, Eat Good Tucker, Live Longer!, the campaign primarily consists of a grants program to develop local level health promotion messages which define the chronic disease risk factors that are priorities in communities and regions.

National campaign activities to support Live Longer! include a calendar of Healthy Community Days, development of the Community Health Action Pack (a practical health promotion resource) and a campaign website to showcase Local Community Campaigns projects and provide a space in which grant recipients can discuss and share their ideas and learnings.

The Healthy Community Day events showcase Local Community Campaigns, celebrate what is good and healthy about communities, promote local health services and get communities thinking about what they can do to Live Longer!

For more information on these activities, please visit Live Longer!, call 1800 661 961 or email localcommunitycampaigns@health.gov.au
